Asher Mikow, a research analyst at The Hilltop Institute, is responsible for working with the Maryland Rare and Expensive Case Management (REM) Program and providing ongoing analysis of Maryland Medicaid financing and utilization. He provides research and analysis on state health care coverage expansion initiatives for the uninsured, Medicaid-related programs, and other state-level healthcare policies.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Mikow gained experience with The Hilltop Institute as a graduate research assistant. As such, he produced quarterly utilization reports for the REM Program, contributed to employee-sponsored health insurance studies, and analyzed state health policies.
Before joining The Hilltop Institute, Mr. Mikow was a senior strategic planning analyst at MedStar Health, where he analyzed regional healthcare market and internal performance trends, created market forecasts and other numerous planning analyses and presentations. Prior to this, he was a healthcare consultant for Gates, Moore and Company in Atlanta, Georgia, where he focused on physician providers. He also served as special assistant to the CEO of Oral Surgery Associates in Durham, North Carolina.
At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mr. Mikow earned a master of healthcare administration degree (with a concentration in finance and financial management) and a bachelor of arts degree in English Literature.
